A new development has been the combination of Squirrel and Taklon.
TAKLON for point and spring, SQUIRREL for colour carrying capacity. This mix gives a superb brush for watercolour in particular at a much lower price than sable. Traditionally Watercolourists have used brushes made from Squirrel, however the hair is expensive. 20% of the SQUIRREL / TAKLON brush hair is made from blue Squirrel. This hair is a lot lighter than the Taklon so the actual hair volume for the Squirrel component seems much greater. Squirrel retains lots of water and when combined with Taklon.
